We would all like to feel strong and confident. How can we do this?
At this time of year we are often focused on giving and receiving material gifts. We work so hard and spend so much to find the right gift that we feel will make those we love happy. We also have our own wish list of what we would like as well. However this time of year can also be challenging for many different reasons. When our gift isn’t received in the way we expected, when we don’t get what we want and also when we see the challenges others face at this time. In Kadampa Buddhism we learn two meditations called ‘the magical practice of taking and giving’.
Over these weeks we will explore these two meditations and how they function to lead us to a deep inner stability and confidence.

Resource: The New Eight Steps to Happiness & How to Transform Your Life
“The Kadampa Geshes used to pray to develop a mind that is as strong and stable as a blacksmith’s anvil, which does not break however hard it is struck. We need a strong and stable mind, one that is undisturbed by any hardship that life throws at us. With such a mind, we are like a hero or heroine, and nothing can interfere with our progress towards enlightenment.”

The teacher of this class is Dave Stones. Dave has been practising Kadampa Buddhism for 30 years. He has always been part of the community in Carlisle and part of the Penrith class. He shows us how practical Buddha’s teachings are for our daily life.
This class is held at Friends Meeting House, Meeting House Ln, Penrith CA11 7TR, which has it’s own carpark
