What is Happiness?
We all want to be happy but what is it? Where is it?
We tend to think that our happiness depends upon our external conditions and so we put lots of time and effort into trying to arrange the right conditions. However if we check we can see that external conditions alone cannot be the real source of happiness. Many people have good external conditions and yet still experience many problems and difficulties.
If we follow the wisdom of Buddhas teachings we will discover for ourselves what happiness is and where it comes from.
We will start to recognise that real happiness comes from a peaceful mind and that by learning to develop and maintain positive peaceful states of mind it will naturally arise. Then even when our external conditions are challenging we will have the correct mental attitude to deal with them.
At these talks, Gen Lhachog, will share from Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s books, How to Transform Your life, on what is happiness and how to develop it through meditation.
At each talk there will also be guided meditation and an opportunity to ask questions.
