Introduction to Buddhism
Do you want to know who Buddha was, what rebirth means, the truth about karma, why and how to meditate and what enlightenment means?
If yes, then this course is a perfect introduction. Following the sections in part 1 of Ven. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s book ‘Introduction to Buddhism’ we will explore these topics in more depth to gain clear and precise insight into their meaning.
Over these 5 weeks we will explore 5 specific topics on Buddhist philosophy that is open to everyone. As well as a talk there will be time for questions as well as guided meditation.
11 November: Who was Buddha?
18 November: What is rebirth?
25 November: How does karma work?
(No class 2 December due to talk in Maryport)
9 December: What does our death mean?
16 December: Why do we need to engage in spiritual practice?
ABOUT THE TEACHER
This class will be taught by the Resident Teacher at Uma KMC, Gen Kelsang Lhachog. Gen Lhachog has been studying and practising Kadampa Buddhism for 25 years and teaching for over 18 years.
