What is meditation and why is it so important in this modern world with all its challenges?

Many people think that meditation is about switching off for a short time in our day.  However when we try to do this it is quite challenging and therefore we can easily feel meditation is not for me.

Buddha teaches that meditation is a mind that is single-pointedly focused on a virtuous object.  Therefore it is about learning to develop and maintain positive, peaceful states of mind.  All the objects taught are determinations, wishes, feelings or states of mind that, through familiarity, become our own pure qualities.

You will learn:

  • What meditation is!
  • What it means to develop a virtuous state of mind.
  • How to hold these positive states in and out of meditation.
