What is meditation?  How can meditation help you in your daily life?

Many people believe meditation is about switching off our thoughts, therefore because this feels impossible we think meditation isn’t for us.

However meditation is about changing the thought patterns rather than stopping them altogether.

In these classes we look at how we can use meditation to develop positive thoughts and attitudes leading to an experience of peace and calm.

Then we carry these thoughts and attitudes into our daily life to help us when things get challenging.

The teacher of this course will be Gen Kelsang Lhachog.

Gen Lhachog is the Resident Teacher at Uma Kadampa Meditation Centre.  She has been studying, practising and teaching Kadampa Buddhism for over 20 years under the guidance of Ven. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

  • What is the structure of the class?

In each class we begin with a simple breathing meditation, then a talk on meditation and our daily life, finally we meditate on the topic.  If you wish you can stay for some discussion and a cup of tea.
